When You're On a Holiday...

With December fast approaching, some of us realize we have almost all of our paid time-off (PTO) left to take. All of those “maybe next month” opportunities are gone and somehow you have to squeeze 12-18 days off into this month, as well as meet your goals and numbers. Most likely, one of two things probably happens: you take the two weeks off and spend the rest of the time completely stressed out or don’t enjoy your time off, or you end up only taking a few days and lose the rest. This next year, try to space out your time off and take all your earned time you can throughout the year, instead of putting it off. Taking a break refreshes your mind and therefore can increase your workplace productivity when you return to work. It allows you to enjoy a long weekend with your friends and family, gaining back some of that quality time you lose when you’re working long hours throughout the year. Maintaining a good work-life balance is important, as it keeps you from developing those negative feelings towards your work or boss.

So while you should still save some time for the year-end holidays, also enjoy a February ski trip, a June beach day, or a September hiking adventure. Take a break and experience new things, before the time gets away from you.
