The ACLU has recently come across court documents that detail the shocking amount of information the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was recently able to obtain in drug investigation from one suspect’s cell phone. The list includes iMessages, chat data, over 600 geolocations, installed applications, stored voicemails, passwords, and IP connection data. While the cell phone in question was confiscated pursuant to search warrant, and then searched pursuant to another warrant obtained prior to searching the phone, the ACLU is calling for clarified and stricter standards for search warrant requirements prior to scanning cell phones.
