Finding the Best Burger in Dallas: Round 4

The excitement continues as the Dallas Burger Bracket progresses, and this week’s match-up brought us two iconic burger joints: JG’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers and Keller’s Drive-In. Both spots have long histories in the Dallas burger scene, offering classic, no-frills experiences that have earned them devoted fans. Our panel of judges once again evaluated these burgers based on Taste, Ingredients, and Appearance. Let’s dig into the scores to see who came out on top.

JG’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers

JG’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers, known for its traditional approach and high-quality ingredients, proved to be a tough competitor in this round. Our panelists enjoyed the classic flavors and consistent quality that this spot offers.

JG’s Total Average Scores:

  • Taste: 4.39/5

  • Ingredients: 4.21/5

  • Appearance: 3.93/5

  • Total: 4.18/5

Several judges gave JG’s high marks for taste. two judges were particularly impressed, awarding perfect scores. When it came to ingredients, JG’s also received high marks. The appearance category had more variation. While one awarded a perfect score for the burger’s visually appealing presentation, two others felt that it looked a bit too simple compared to other burgers they’d tried, bringing the average down slightly.

Keller’s Total Average Scores:

  • Taste: 3.21/5

  • Ingredients: 3.21/5

  • Appearance: 3.71/5

  • Total: 3.38/5

Keller’s earned a range of scores in the taste category. One judge gave it a high score of 4.5, appreciating its classic, straightforward taste. However, others felt the flavors were too basic, leading to lower scores. Ingredient quality was another area where Keller’s received middling reviews. Many awarded scores of 3, mentioning that while the burger was good, it didn’t offer anything exceptional.

Interestingly, Keller’s highest scores came in the appearance category, thanks to its retro presentation. One judge appreciated the classic drive-in style and awarded a 5, noting that it had a charming and nostalgic look. However, the consistency across other categories was not enough to close the gap with JG’s.

And the Winner Is… JG’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers!

With higher average scores in taste, ingredients, and appearance, JG’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers moves on to the semifinals.
