The Not So “Fine Print”

THIS IS A ONE-TIME CONSULTATION ONLY.  ALTHOUGH THE FIRM WILL TREAT OUR CONVERSATION AS CONFIDENTIAL AND PROTECTED BY THE ATTORNEY-CLIENT PRIVILEGE, YOU ARE NOT ENGAGING OUR FIRM AS YOUR LEGAL COUNSELFOR ANY LEGAL WORK OR FURTHER CONSULTATION.  WE WILL NOT OPEN OR MAINTAIN ANY FILES FOR YOUR MATTER, NOR WILL WE RETAIN ANY DOCUMENTS OR INFORMATION OTHER THAN THIS AGREEMENT.    

We will not review any materials in advance of the Consultation, nor conduct any research or investigation. This initial Consultation does not create any obligation on the part of the firm to represent you further, nor does it obligate you to engage the firm for any additional work.  Should you wish to engage the firm as legal counsel, you will need to execute a separate engagement agreement with firm. 

THE CONSULTATION IS INTENDED TO BE A BASIC STRATEGIC DISCUSSION ONLY.You understand that a single Consultation is insufficient to fully understand your legal needs and concerns, and all the risks and options available to you. Moreover, any recommendations or advice given to you during the Consultation will be based on the limited information provided by you during the Consultation.

NO REFUNDS. No refunds for any reason unless the firm cancels a Consultation due to a potential conflict of interest.  In the event the firm permanently cancels the Consultation, the firm will pay you a refund via the same means with which you originally paid, less any bank of merchant processing fees related to your payment and/or the refund.

SCHEDULING. You may request a specific time or date for a Consultation, and the firm will try to reasonably accommodate your request. However, the firm may schedule the Consultation at any time during standard business hours, at the firm’s sole discretion and subject to staff availability. You may also request an in-office Consultation but depending on the schedule of the appropriate team member, an in-office Consultation may not be possible. The Consultation must be initially scheduled within thirty days of the date the payment is made, and in no instance will be held more than 60 days after the payment date.  You may request to meet or speak with a specific attorney, but the firm will, at its discretion, select the most appropriate team member for your Consultation based on our staff availability and the information you provide to us.  

CANCELLATIONS. You must cancel or reschedule any scheduled Consultation at least 48 hours in advance. You may cancel/reschedule an in-person Consultation only one time, and thereafter any rescheduled Consultation will be telephone only.  In no event can you cancel/reschedule more than twice.  The firm may cancel/reschedule as needed, and in such an instance will provide as much notice as possible and will work with you to reschedule as soon as possible. 

If you cancel more than twice or the Consultation/Consultation does not take place within sixty days of the payment date for any reason other than cancellation by the firm, you will forfeit your payment, and the firm will have no obligation to meet or speak with you.

Payment

All flat fees must be paid in advance.  Invoices or requests for retainers for future work needed will be sent in accordance with our standard billing process. As a courtesy, we accept most major cards and can accept online checks.
